Police Men's Costume and Makeup

We wanted the dress the policemen in a black polo shirt with black loose trousers, so they are easy to move around in. We would have ‘police’ printed on the shirt so it is obvious who the two characters are. They would also be wearing black boots. Underneath the shirt they would be wearing something that looks like a bulletproof vest for protection.
I think we would get this costume from either amazon or eBay, as they are cheap websites.
The back up for this costume would be black trousers and black t-shirt and if possible a florescent vest over the top.

Cost:
All of these items are from eBay as it is a cheap website and the price would be a lot lower than other shops.

These are some minute meetings that I sent to the rest of the group. Then we were discussing where and when we were going to meet the next day to finish some work.

Institution For My Thriller

I think the institution that would produce my film would be something like Warner Bothers. This institution specialises in every type of movie so my thriller would be well produced. However this company is very large so I feel my movie may get lost within the stronger movies in this institution. So I believe my particular film would be smaller than others, which maybe not be a bad thing but it may not be very successful.

Other films from Warner Brothers that are similar to mine would be ‘Heat’. It is very action packed and full of action and suspense.

My film I think would follow the institutions ethos because it is a thriller and warner brothers are good at creating tension. However because Warner Brothers is a very successful institution all movies are normally high budgeted and I feel like my particular movie will be a low budgeted movie with some big stars that would catch the audience’s eye.  I think my product would look very good on the warner brothers website because it would be full of action and power.

I think pre-advertising it by creating posters and a trailer would make the money for this movie. Then once the film has been produced and published to the public money would hopefully be made by pre ordered tickets and ticket sales. Also from interviews and DVD sales and anything that has the movie printed onto it like posters. Also if the movie came out onto sky movies for example the customers would have to pay £3 to rent and maybe £8 to buy. I don’t think this movie would be exposed in a big cinema for example the Imax but it might be shown in smaller cinemas like The Odeon.

If my film was to be produced I think I would get a budget around £50million or less. As I think this movie would need money for explosives and some special effects.

Warner Brothers is an institution that highlights all types of genres of film. Normally films made by Warner Brothers are high budgeted however looking on their website I see a couple films I do not recognise and they have not had a large budget to produce them.

This particular institution does not direct a specific audience; their audience’s change according to the film they make unlike Walt Disney who only make children’s films. Examples of movies that have a similar audience to mine is ‘Heat’ which is directed at viewers over 15 years.  Another film produced by Warner Brothers that has the same audience is “John Wick’ it is very action packed and full of dramatic scenes.

New Scene Outline

To begin with we have a man who is tied to a water pipe (the ones you see in a factory) at the beginning of our shoot he is unconscious and he gradually wakes up and comes around, as he does this the camera shows us the bomb which is tied around the man’s body with a timer on it that is counting down from two minutes. Gradually he becomes more and more aware of his surroundings with this the ticking of the bomb increases in volume. We then hear the background noise of the factory for instance machinery and muffled foreign voices, soon after this comes the gunshots from above him. The man’s mouth is taped shut so that when he tries to scream for help we just hear muffled breathing. The camera pans around the room showing us oil drums, dirt and old pots of paint everywhere. To end with a police officer and his backup team (2 or 3 men) are banging on the door oblivious to what is on the other side and the man again tries to shout and warn them but they slam open the door and we see them storm in however being cautious of the trip wire on the floor one police man goes over to the victim to remove the tape covering his mouth, which then unfortunately triggers the bomb and we hear a high pitched ticking sound increasing in speed then a sudden blackout leaving the audience in shock.

Answers to targets:
1. We have decided as a group that we will look up bombs used in movies and how they are wired up and shown on screen.
2. This is shown in our new outline.
3. We have decided to add backup (2/3 men) plus the original policeman.

Feedback on Thriller Idea

As a group we pitched our idea, the feedback we got was that the basis of the idea was good we just needed to work on developing the plot through the mise-en-scene. First of all we need to think about how we will portray the bomb so that is does not look like an 80’s cartoon bomb, so we need to change that so that it is realistic and helps to add tension. As well as this we received feedback about the ending of our scene when the police officer storms inside we need to consider how realistic it is, if he enters alone. We need to decide if it’s better to have him as a bomb diffuser making it more professional or at least that the police officer enters with back up of maybe two or three others, or we could have a mini backup team of about five people.

Target 1: Decide on what type of bomb to use, which will help add tension to our thriller.
Target2: Expand the ending to make it less cliché by having a moment after the “rescuer” enters instead of the scene just going black we see both characters realising their situation.
Target 3: Decide whether we want to use a bomb diffuser, swat team or stick with the policeman but give him back up.
